Hello Everyone- Just wanted to let you know that Isabelle had her 2 month off-treatment clinic visit today and all is well. Her white blood cell count and neutrophil count is still low- but to be expected after months of chemothereapy. Her counts have gone up a little (ANC of 1110-- her ANC last month was 1075). The ANC is the Absolute Neutrophil Count, which measures how well a body can fight infection. Anything under 500 is neutropenic, anything under 1000 means she is immuno-supressed, so an ANC of 1110 is great for her right now and means her body should be able to fight infection just like anyone else. We didn't stay to see her oncologist because the clinic was packed and we would have been there for hours (we wanted to get home since Nana and Papa were coming in for a visit!). They thought she was doing good enough that we didn't need to stay. So basically what this all means is that Isabelle is doing GREAT-- and her counts are right where they should be for her right now. I would also like to ask everyone to say a good thought, prayer, etc. for Isabelle's "Shands sister" Lacey (We call them that because when they were roommates at Shands they looked like twins with their bald heads). Lacey is a 6 year-old sweetie-pie with ALL who is currently in intensive care with pneumonia. Annie
