Main Functions of the WRAP Application
Creation of new Spatial Datasets
- A utility for digitizing a road on screen with a mouse.
- A utility for buffering either a road or a wetland by a specified distance (fig. 2).

Figure 2. Examples of the utilities for creating a road centerline (yellow) and
the buffer of interest (green).
The wetland layer is shown in cyan. Wetlands intersecting the buffer are shown in yellow.
- A utility for delineating one or more wetlands on screen with a mouse.
- A utility for creating points that represent photographic stations around wetlands where photographs
of wetlands were taken in the field. The utility creates links between each point and the
corresponding photograph (fig. 3).

Figure 3. A dialog used to associate photo stations to corresponding photographs
from the field.
The photos are selected on the left panel and assigned in the right panel.
Spatial Operations
- A facility to clip one or more data layers to the area of interest.
- A facility to identify wetlands that fall in the study area (fig.4).

Figure 4. Identifying wetlands in the buffer area. Wetlands within the buffer area
are shown in red.
- A facility to identify adjacent landuse to the wetland of interest.
Creation of the Evaluation Database
- Utilities to create, edit and populate the evaluation database that is composed of predefined DBF
files for the wetland parameters and text files for the field notes.
- Data entry forms with built in mathematical formulas, to be used in scoring and evaluating (fig. 5).

Figure 5. Main evaluation form - Field Datasheet. This dialog is created using
ArcView's Dialog Designer
Reporting
- An ArcView wizard driven utility for creating HTML pages of the analysis results. The web page is
build interactively by the user as a collection of tables, field notes, views,
layouts and digital photos in a simple pre-defined format.
The web pages can then be edited in MS Word if desired.
Utility Tools
- An interface for connecting to Internet URL addresses or local HTML files from ArcView.
- A utility for converting area and length measurements across different units and across the British
and the metric system.
Documentation in HTML:
- A step by step tutorial on how to use the WRAP application in a sample project.
- The entire South Florida Water Management District WRAP manual.
- The Wrap application user manual that explain disk file structure, configurations and other similar
technical aspects of the application.
