VERSION 2005

TITLE: ELEMENT OCCURRENCE POLYGONS

Geodataset Name: FLEO_PY_AUG05
Geodataset Type: SHAPEFILE
Geodataset Feature: POLYGON
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a polygon data layer locating the occurrences of endangered or rare plants and animals, high quality natural communities and other occurrences of natural resource interest in the FNAI database. An "Element" is any exemplary or rare component of the natural environment, such as a species, plant community, bird rookery, spring, sinkhole, cave or other ecological feature. An "Element Occurrence" (EO) represents the locational record of an element and is a single extant habitat which sustains or otherwise contributes to the survival of a population or a distinct, self-sustaining example of a particular natural community.

FEATURE ATTRIBUTE TABLES CODES AND VALUES:

Item
Item Description
FID Internal feature number.

Shape Feature geometry.

EO_ID Unique numerical identifier for the element occurrence, software generated. Primary use of this attribute will be as a "join" field such that the detailed EO information contained in the associated shapefile FLEO200508.shp can be linked to the polygons in this theme.

SNAME The scientific name of the element.

DESCRIPT FGDL added item based on SNAME

FGDLAQDATE Date GeoPlan acquired data from source

USER NOTES:
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the original data.

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale
datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or
modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best
available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the county level.

1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base
mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should
be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with
your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every
effort has been made to supply the user with data
documentation. For additional information, see the
References sectionand the Data Source Contact section of
this documentation. For more information regarding scale
and accuracy, see our web pages at:
