FGDL added field based on COUNTY |
| GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the original data. |
|
The presence of ground water contaminants is indicated by a number 1 for each
of the 42 contaminants listed in the attribute table. The DEP quad number is referenced
by the item quad#, the delineated area is referenced by item zoneid, the water
management district is referenced by the item wmd, and the quad name is
listed in item quad-name. |
A note concerning data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References sectionand the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at: http://www.geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html |

Data on locations of contaminated ground water sites (those not meeting primary drinking water standards in regard to any of 42 ground water contaminants as described by DEP rule 17-550) came from the Health and Rehabilitative Services database, DEP ground water site investigations, state and federal clean up sites, and modeled ground water contaminent plumes. For HRS EDB wells, USGS 7.5" quadrangles were were overlayed with 100 meter UTM grids. The location of each contaminated well was digitized to the nearest 100 meters in the appropriate UTM projection. These points were then buffered by 1000-2000 feet. Site maps and plume models were transfered to 7.5" quads and digitized on a Calcomp 9100 digitizer using ARC/INFO. The individual quad coverages of buffered points were projected from UTM to Lambert using ARC/INFO for VMS on a VAX. The coverages were then mapjoined, dissolved, projected to Albers Equal Area Conic, and exported. The exported coverages were ftp'd to a DEC/ALPHA UNIX system, imported using ARC/INFO 6.1.2 and inserted into the quad library. Process Date: 1990 |
