DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

This shapefile was created with ArcView 3.2a 1. The USFWS recovery plan for the Okaloosa darter, and USFWS biologists currently working with the Okaloosa darter believe that the darter is restricted to the Boggy Bayou and Rocky Bayou drainages based on historic and current collections. 2. Using the 16-digit HUC shapefile, sub-basins utilized by the Okaloosa darter were selected and converted into a new shapefile. 3. The estuarine portions of Boggy Bayou and Rocky Bayou were removed from the shapefile using the X-Tools Erase command and the USGS Hydrography shapefile depicting the bayous. 4. Using X-Tools, the area and perimeter in meters, and the acreage were calculated. 5. The attribute table was cleaned up to include only fields applicable to the Okaloosa darter drainages.
