This dataset, created by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Watershed Restoration, is an inventory of Land use - Land Cover classified in the State of Florida's Northwest Florida Water Management District. Land Use - Land Cover information provides environmental scientists an understanding of the relationships between human activities, land surface physiography and water resources. A copy of the 2015-2016 NWFWMD db was used as a base in conjunction with 2019 digital orthoimagery to update 2015-2016 database. The code 1700: Institutional code (Level 2), was down delineated into 8 new codes, being -- 1710: Education Facilities, 1720: Religious, 1740: Medical and Health Care, 1750: Governmental, 1760: Correctional, 1770: Other Institutional, 1780: Commercial Child Care, 1790: Institutional Under Construction. A number of modifications to existing code descriptions have also been made and these modifications can be found in the Photo Interpreter Key assigned to the 2019 data.Due to Hurricane Michael a new character, '9', has been added in the level 4 designation to indicate storm damage. This only pertains to select, mostly heavily vegetation codes or ones that show signs of vegetation damage. They include 2139, 2239, 2409, 2439, 3209, 3229, 3309, 4109, 4119, 4129, 4139, 4149, 4209, 4219, 4279, 4289, 4349, 4419, 4439, 6119, 6139, 6149, 6159, 6179, 6189, 6219, 6259, 6309, and 6469. The core codes of the delineated land use (or cover) have not been changed from their previous designation, we have just added the '9' designation to it. Determination of whether or not to keep the designation in the next update will be deliberated by the NWFWMD at that time. This is an update to the FGDL Layer LU_NWFWMD_2016.shp
<purpose>This dataset, created by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration, is an inventory of Land Use - Land Cover classified in the State of Florida's Northwest Florida Water Management District. This imagery contains natural color orthophotos covering counties in north Florida (Escambia: 2019-03-05-2019-03-07, Walton: 2018-12-22-2019-01-21, Calhoun: 2019-01-07-2019-01-11, Holmes: 2019-12-28-2019-01-06, Jackson: 2019-01-06-2019-01-09, Washington: 2019-01-05-2019-01-06, Gulf: 2019-01-09-2019-01-11, Franklin: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Gadsden: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Wakulla: 2019-01-11-2019-0125, Bay: 2019-01-10-2019-01-21, Jefferson: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Liberty: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Santa Rosa: 2019-01-25-2019-03-06) Leon County imagery between 12/25/2019-1/08/2020. Okaloosa, we used the USDA's 2019 NAIP imagery along with ESRI's Basemap and Okaloosa County imagery (2019) coming from there GIS Server Connection. Eglin Air Force Base was blacked out in the states imagery along with NAIP imagery so we used ESRI's Basemap (edits done in Spring 2021, imagery might have been 2020). Classifications are provided for level 1, 2, 3 and a few level 4 (indicated in Land Use and Secondary Code fields) land uses.</purpose>
<supplinf>Classifications for the following Counties were based on imagery "flown" on the listed dates: Escambia: 2019-03-05-2019-03-07, Walton: 2018-12-22-2019-01-21, Calhoun: 2019-01-07-2019-01-11, Holmes: 2019-12-28-2019-01-06, Jackson: 2019-01-06-2019-01-09, Washington: 2019-01-05-2019-01-06, Gulf: 2019-01-09-2019-01-11, Franklin: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Gadsden: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Wakulla: 2019-01-11-2019-0125, Bay: 2019-01-10-2019-01-21, Jefferson: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Liberty: 2019-01-11-2019-01-25, Santa Rosa: 2019-01-25-2019-03-06) Leon County imagery between 12/25/2019-1/08/2020. The state did not gather and Okaloosa county imagery in 2019 so we used the USDA's 2019 NAIP imagery along with ESRI's Basemap and Okaloosa County imagery (2019) coming from there GIS Server Connection. Eglin Air Force Base was blacked out in the states imagery (Santa Rosa and Walton county imagery) along with NAIP imagery so we used ESRI's Basemap (edits done in Spring 2021, imagery might have been 2020).</supplinf>

    <resdesc>DOWNLOADABLE DATA</resdesc>
<distliab>The Florida Geographic Data Library is a collection of Geospatial Data compiled by the University of Florida GeoPlan Center with support from the Florida Department of Transportation. GIS data available in FGDL is collected from various state, federal, and other agencies (data sources) who are data stewards, producers, or publishers. The data available in FGDL may not be the most current version of the data offered by the data source. University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no guarantees about the currentness of the data and suggests that data users check with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data exist. Furthermore, the GIS data available in the FGDL are provided 'as is'. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no warranties, guaranties or representations as to the truth, accuracy or completeness of the data provided by the data sources. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no representations or warranties about the quality or suitability of the materials, either expressly or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center shall not be liable for any damages suffered as a result of using, modifying, contributing or distributing the materials. A note about data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation.</distliab>
