This dataset contains rail crossing locations by FDOT district in Florida from the Rail Highway Crossing Inventory (RHCI) database buffered by 100 ft. A rail-highway grade crossing is an intersection where a roadway crosses railroad tracks at the same level or grade. Such crossings may be encountered on both public and private roads.

The Rail Highway Crossing Inventory (RHCI) database was developed and is maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in cooperation with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and railroad companies operating in Florida. The RHCI database is the central repository for all Florida rail-highway crossing system data. The Railroad Crossing feature class of the State of Florida is at a scale of 1:24,000 with a projection system of Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) 17 North and a horizontal datum of North American 1983 (NAD 1983). The map units are in meters. This layer is used by the EST for notification purposes.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>

UF GeoPlan Center
The UF GeoPlan center received the dataset from the Florida Department of Transportation via email on February 18, 2026.
When received data was in file geodatabase format and in UTM Zone 17 NAD83 projection. The data was projected from UTM to FGDL Albers. GeoPlan deleted 3 records that had empty geometry.
The following QaQc procedures were performed:
- Shortened field lengths
- Upcased field names and records
- Added LAT_DD, LONG_DD, MGRS, and GOOGLEMAP fields
- Calculated descript based on LOCALSTREE
- Calculated FGDLAQDATE based on the date that the dataset was received.
- Renamed the dataset from RHCI_2026 to fro_rhci_2026.
- Dissolved the point layer by FDOT district.
- Created a 100 ft buffer layer named fro_rhci_district_buff_2026.
