  • July 24, 2024 – for U.S. applicants
  • July 3, 2024 – for international applicants

Please note: This is an off-book program only. If you are currently enrolled in a state-funded campus program, then you cannot also enroll in this certificate.

There are 4 steps in the application process:

Step 1: URP Department Application Form

Please complete the form below. The application deadlines for the Fall 2024 semester are: July 24, 2024 – for U.S. applicants and July 3, 2024 – for international applicants.

If you are a current MURP online student, you only need to complete Steps 1 & 2 of this application.

Step 2: UF Certificate Application
Submit UF Certificate Application

Applicants must submit a UF certificate application. Please note, there is a $30 application fee (waived for currently enrolled students). The Office of Admissions will review your application for determination of satisfactory conduct record, validation of transcripts and degrees, and verification of residency classification.

With your application, please upload:

  • English Proficiency Scores (for international students from countries not on exemption list)
    • ILETS (min. 6)
    • MELAB (min. 77)
    • TOEFL Web (min. 80)
    • TOEFL Paper (min. 550)
    • GRE Verbal (min. 140)
Important:
  • Before applying, please review the detailed application instructions for new students.
  • Please note:
    • There is more than one GIS Certificate at the University of Florida.
    • When applying, MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE:
      College of Design, Construction, and Planning, and then:
      Geographic Information Systems for Urban and Regional Planners
  • Please check that you are selecting the correct program (pictured below):

Step 3: Send Official Transcripts

There are two options for sending official transcripts. You will not be admitted until UF has received and verified your official transcripts.

(1) Mail or forward your official transcripts (in sealed enveloped) to UF Office of Admissions:

(2) Forward official PDF transcripts electronically via Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, or eScrip-Safe.

The email address for receipt of transcripts is TE@admissions.ufl.edu. Please be aware that UF Admissions only accepts PDF transcripts from the three services listed above.

Please note: unofficial, digital copies of your transcripts may also be uploaded to the UF’s application portal. These will allow us to more quickly review your application, but you will still need to submit official transcripts.

To be eligible for this program, students must meet the following qualifications:

  • Each applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from an international college or university.
  • Resume or CV
  • 3.0 Upper-Division GPA or better
  • English Proficiency Scores (for international students from countries not on exemption list). The following exams are accepted:
    • ILETS (min. 6)
    • MELAB (min. 77)
    • TOEFL Web (min. 80)
    • TOEFL Paper (min. 550)
    • GRE Verbal (min. 140)

Additionally, you cannot simultaneously be enrolled in a UF state-funded campus program.
